Ready to make a difference? Try volunteering

What we do is easy, we get clothes to people who need them. All we need is a helping hand to keep things moving.

We are a small team and volunteering helps us to achieve in one day something that would usually take us weeks! Your help means we can keep providing clothes to more people each month.

We need teams who can help us with sorting donations, setting up events, visual merchandising, and all of the work that goes on behind the scenes to provide brand new clothes for refugees and asylum seekers.

Whether you are a small team of 2 or a larger group of 20, we can plan a day which works for you and helps us to keep doing what we do.

It was really nice to be doing something outside of the 'norm' work duties with my team. It encouraged us to work in different ways together and since a lot of the time we work from home, it was a great opportunity to be together in person. We learned some frightening truths about the fashion industry which made it even more rewarding to be doing something about it, albeit a tiny drop in the ocean!

Beyond volunteering

There are lots of ways you can support the Thread Ahead community beyond volunteering. Whether that’s supporting with warehousing and logistics, fundraising, payroll giving, or running workshops and events.

As a small charity, we can also always use support from people with skills our team don’t have. This could marketing, tech support, legal support, or anything where you think we could use your help.

We want our partners to have a real impact, both for us and for you.

In addition to volunteering days, Thread Ahead can also organise ‘Lunch and Learn’ sessions at your workplace. Sessions are led by a staff member, usually with input from a member of our community with lived experience of seeking asylum too. We talk about climate change, migration, and what connects the two.
